Seeking Experienced Emergency Medicine PA / NP.

Emergency Department

  • ED Volume: 10,000
  • 8-bed ED (no separation between main side, fast track; three private rooms, five monitored, curtained rooms); A new ED will be completed in early 2023.
  • ED has priority to 32-slice CT machine
  • Primary Stroke Center
  • TPA given with tele-neurology
  • 18% pediatric patients
  • 20% admission rate (combined true hospital admits and observation admits)
  • Hospitalists admit 80% of admitted patients in hospital
  • No EMR system - use T sheets; transitioning to EPIC EMR
  • ED is under the Department of Medicine
  • Ultrasound machine in ED
  • PACS reading on sight during daytime hours; in Richmond at nights and on weekends; 24-hour lab with 1 hour turnaround time
  • Sedation agents include Propofal, Versed, Ketamine, Etomidate
  • RN to patient ratio: 4 RNs to 8 beds (peak); 3 RNs to 8 beds (low)
  • Splinting done by physicians, RNs
  • Qualifications: licensed physician in the state or ability to attain unrestricted state license candidate must be BE/BC
