Are you a dedicated Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) seeking an impactful role in a dynamic surgical environment? We are looking for motivated professionals to support our operating room team in Midland, MI, assisting in delivering exceptional patient care during surgical procedures. This position offers you the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting where your skills directly contribute to positive patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the surgical suite by assisting the surgical technologist and registered nurse in gathering and verifying equipment, instruments, and supplies needed for procedures.
- Ensure all supplies and equipment are available, functional, and properly charged.
- Support the surgeon by providing exposure, aid in hemostasis, tissue handling, retraction, suturing, and other intraoperative technical functions.
- Apply appropriate dressings, assist with patient positioning, and utilize proper draping, suctioning, cautery, and stapling techniques.
- Collaborate with the operating room team to ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
- Assist in transporting, positioning, and providing total care for patients before, during, and after surgery.
Required Skills:
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to operate various surgical instruments and equipment confidently.
- Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience in a Surgical Assistant role within the operating room.
- Familiarity with specific surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, general surgery).
- Additional certifications such as BLS or ACLS.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Completion of a recognized CSFA training program.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience assisting in surgical procedures.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work dayshift hours.
- Willingness to adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
