A leading Colorado-based academic healthcare system is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join its Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team as a full-time Nocturnist in Loveland, Colorado. This advanced practice role focuses on delivering high-acuity overnight trauma and emergency general surgery care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage trauma admissions, emergency general surgery cases, and inpatient surgical care
• Perform comprehensive evaluations and develop evidence-based care plans
• Interpret diagnostic testing and imaging
• Assist trauma surgeons with procedures, resuscitations, and operative support
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, hospitalists, and nursing staff
• Maintain documentation and workflows using Epic EMR
• Support quality improvement, safety initiatives, and service performance metrics
• Participate in professional development and leadership opportunities
Qualifications
• NCCPA Certified (Required)
• Active and unrestricted Colorado Physician Assistant license (or ability to obtain)
• Eligible for DEA registration and Medicare/Medicaid provider enrollment
• BLS Certification (Required)
• Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days) required at presentation
• No HHS/OIG or GSA exclusions
• Minimum of 2 years of trauma surgery experience preferred OR completion of a surgical fellowship highly preferred
• Clean malpractice and license history preferred
• Permanent placement only (not accepting locums or locum-to-perm)
• Visa sponsorship not available
Working Hours
• Overnight shifts
• High-acuity trauma and acute care coverage
