Locums – Bellingham, Washington, NP/PA Critical Care Surgery Opening

Clinical Role

• ASAP start
• 6-month assignment
• 3.0 FTE coverage need
• First day reserved for orientation
• Inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
• Trauma and Acute Care Surgery patient population
• Approximately 18 patients per day
• No call

Schedule & Coverage

• 3-4 shifts per week
• Current shifts include:
  • 6:30 am-4:30 pm
  • 6:30 am-6:30 pm
• Coverage includes at least 2 weekdays plus weekend availability
• Clinic Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 am-4:30 pm
• Clinic schedule may be covered by the permanent team if needed

Practice Model & Clinical Expectations

• Inpatient rounding and admissions
• Respond to trauma activations and provide initial response in the ED when the Trauma Surgeon is unavailable
• Admit patients to the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery service, including ICU patients
• Surgical first assist
• Prepare for, manage, and provide follow-up in post-discharge clinic
• May work independently at times; APP support available on some days
• Diabetic education available onsite
• Epic proficiency required

Requirements & Credentialing

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• BLS, ACLS, and ATLS required
• BLS and ACLS must be through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, as applicable
• Washington license not required at time of presentation
