Neuro-Trauma / Neurosurgery ICU PA
Seeking a Physician Assistant with neuro-trauma and/or neuro-critical care experience to provide coverage for gaps in service. This role focuses on ICU management of emergency neurosurgical patients involving brain, neck, and spine conditions.
Practice Setting

Level II Trauma Center

Neuro-Trauma / Neurosurgery ICU

Average census: 15–20 ICU patients per provider per day

EMR: Cerner Care B
Coverage & Schedule

Multiple coverage blocks available from January through December
-
Reason for coverage: Gaps in coverage

Estimated credentialing timeframe: 30–60 days from receipt of a complete application
Clinical Responsibilities
-
ICU management of neurosurgical and trauma patients
-
Low to moderate risk procedures:
-
Laceration repair
-
Peripheral IV access
-
Fracture and dislocation reductions (minimal/moderate displacement)

High-risk procedures:
-
G-tube placement
-
Endotracheal intubation
-
Cardioversion/defibrillation
-
LMA placement
-
Paracentesis
-
Chest tube placement
-
Central and arterial line insertion
-
-
APPs do not assist in surgery
Travel Considerations

Local providers preferred

Lodging must align with established travel policy

Travel exceptions must be disclosed at submission
Candidate Requirements
-
Certified PA (NCCPA)
-
Active state license
-
Minimum 1 year of neurosurgery, neuro-critical care, or neurology experience

ACLS required; ATLS preferred but not mandatory with strong neuro experience

DEA required
-
Clean malpractice history
-
Must hold active staff privileges at a TJC-accredited facility (not locum-only privileges)

Availability must be provided at time of name clear
