Job description We’re excited to announce opportunities for Advanced Practice Providers to join the University of New Mexico Hospital — the state’s only Level I Trauma and academic teaching hospital

Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work in a specialized critical care setting, providing high-level clinical care during night shifts. This role includes responsibilities as a practitioner, mentor, educator, consultant, and team leader. The APP will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care across all age groups—from neonates to geriatrics—while aligning with hospital and departmental goals and policies. New grads are welcome to apply. A $100/night stipend is in addition to base pay.

Compensation:(Compensation is based on experience, education, and other factors.)

Minimum: $53.29/hr
Maximum: $74.90/hr
Sign On bonus: Up to $15,000

Position Details:
Department: Inpatient APP – Critical Care
FTE: Full-Time (1.00)
Shift: Nights

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Assess, diagnose, and manage treatment plans; perform exams, order tests, and interpret results.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient care, orders, and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with medical, nursing, and ancillary staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Education: Provide patient and family education on care plans and preventative health.
  • Safety: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and report concerns as needed.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as a resource for staff and lead by example with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant (required).
  • Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Certifications: CPR, ACLS/PALS, State Licensure, DEA Certification (required).
Physical and Work Conditions:
  • Physical Demand: Moderate physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials; PPE required.
APP Benefits Package:
  • Annual Leave: 20 days per year (accrued at 6.16 hours per pay period); prorated based on FTE. Eligibility begins after 5 months of employment.
  • Educational Leave: 56 hours of paid educational leave per year (non-rollover).
  • CME Allowance: $1,110 annually, prorated based on FTE.
  • DEA License: Covered by employer upon hire.
  • Night Shift Stipend: $100 per night for night shift roles.
  • Uniform: Lab coat provided in lieu of scrubs.
  • Amenities: Access to provider lounge at main hospital.
  • Malpractice Insurance: Fully covered by the hospital.
