Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Practice Setting: Outpatient cardiology clinic with inpatient rounding
An experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is sought to join a growing cardiology team serving a regional community. This role offers a rewarding blend of outpatient cardiology care and inpatient hospital rounding, providing continuity of care for patients who rely on high-quality, locally delivered heart services.
This position is ideal for an advanced practice provider who values clinical autonomy, strong physician collaboration, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on cardiovascular health within a community-based setting.
Position Highlights
* High level of autonomy within a collaborative cardiology practice, with immediate physician support available when needed
* Dual-setting role combining outpatient clinic visits with inpatient rounding
* Excellent work-life balance
* No weekend call
* First-call responsibilities only
* Call limited to two weekday evenings per week
* Robust support team, including operational leadership, front office staff, and a skilled clinical mix of RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants
* Well-equipped practice environment featuring:
* Eight exam rooms
* Dedicated pacemaker evaluation room
* On-site diagnostics including EKG and Doppler capabilities
* Join a department experiencing growth and expansion to meet increasing community cardiology needs
Role Responsibilities
* Manage an average of 16 outpatient visits per day
* Perform inpatient rounding and follow-up care
* Assist with pacemaker evaluations and supervise cardiac stress testing
* Provide extensive patient education focused on:
* Heart failure management
* Lifestyle modification
* Medication adherence
* Reducing hospital readmissions
* Care for a patient population that is approximately 75% Medicare, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on geriatric cardiovascular health
* Work within an established triage and referral workflow led by nursing staff to ensure appropriate patient placement
Qualifications
* Current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant licensure
* Eligible for or holding an Illinois license
* BLS and ACLS certifications required
* Prior cardiology experience preferred, though candidates with a strong interest in specializing will be considered
* Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team-based, patient-centered care model
Compensation & Benefits
* Compensation range: $124,257 – $160,593, based on experience and qualifications
