To use their training in cancer biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology of cancer to design and execute experiments related to a NIH-sponsored research projects in the lab. The Research Assistant is expected to excel in the areas of cancer biology and biochemistry and is expected to learn new techniques to accomplish the goals of the research projects.

  • Performs biochemistry and molecular biology analyses, in vivo mouse and cell culture experiments, cell and tissue analysis. Biochemistry, molecular biology, and cancer biology techniques are required.
  • Works with others to carry out experiments, and independently develops scientific hypotheses related to ongoing work in the laboratory, designs experiments to test hypotheses, carries out procedures for experiments, and analyzes results of experiments.
  • Trouble-shoots own experiments and those of others.
  • Keeps accurate and up-to-date records of data generated.
  • Instructs research personnel on specialized techniques and complex protocols.
  • Trains and mentors research personnel.
  • Assists in prepares oral and written reports/presentations for the P.I. on research by assisting in writing abstracts, manuscripts, grant proposals and data reports for grants and oral presentations with corresponding slide presentation for local and national meetings.
  • Assists the PI with regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with lab duties for the efficient running of the lab
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff

Master's Degree; Minimum four (4) years of experience in bench research required.
