Responsibilities:

  • Based in the CCU
  • Primary Responsibility in the CCU
  • Manage STEMI/Acute-Coronary syndrome/other cardiac emergency and post cardiovascular procedure patients in the CCU
  • Assist in Management of Post PCI patients downgraded to telemetry
  • Manage/Assist Patients on hemodynamic support with IABP, Impella or ECMO
  • Respond to all STEMI calls from the ER, Cath Lab, CAC, and on the floors, to evaluate the patients and communicate with the Interventional Cardiologist on
  • Participate in the Acute Pulmonary Embolism response team
  • Perform consultations or admissions as necessary and oversee those patients
  • Perform accurate history and physical examination
  • Obtain informed consent for emergent PCI/STEMI/Cardiac Cath cases
  • Coordinate and facilitate transfer of patient to the Cardiac Cath Lab from the ED
  • Assist in the Cardiac Cath Lab procedures as needed for STEMI or Emergent cases
  • The Liaison between the ER, Cath Lab and Interventional Cardiology
  • Communicate directly with the ER/Attending/Fellows/RNs etc in regards to STEMI/PCI patients
  • Support the Non-STEMI service CCU patients (heart failure, arrhythmia, tamponade, sepsis, respiratory failure, multi-organ failure etc).
  • Develop treatment plan and management in conjunction with Cardiologist, Attending Physician in accordance with established protocols to provide optimal patient care and medical management
  • Supports the overnight CCU house staff in procedures as needed
  • Assists in procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab suite to include Cardiac Catheterization, STEMI, and Endovascular/peripheral procedures.
  • Monitors patient during procedure
  • Obtains appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing and follow up as needed
  • Assist in immediate post procedural management, including sheath and TR band
  • Perform and/or interpret and/or order routine diagnostic studies including routine laboratory tests, common radiological studies and EKG
  • Capable of utilizing all computerized EMR systems in the Cath Lab & CCU
  • Carry a service phone and back-up pager at all times as a direct link of communication and consultation
  • Phone and pager will be kept in the CCU at a designated location
  • Other duties assigned as related to the Department of Cardiac Cath & Endovascular Lab

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution
  • Current NYS Medical License
  • ACLS/BLS
  • Experience in Critical Care, Cardiac Cath Lab Area Preferred
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination needed prior to hire
