• Required Experience:
  • Ischemic heart disease (percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty), stent placement, coronary thrombectomy)
  • Valve disease (valvuloplasty, percutaneous valve repair or replacement)
  • Congenital heart abnormalities (repair of atrial and ventricular septal defects, closure of patent ductus arteriosus, angioplasty of the great vessels).
  • They perform interventional procedures such as balloon angioplasty and are skilled in the use of various cutting and laser devices to remove plaque build-up from arteries.
• Case Log Requirements:
  • Must be able to provide case logs to show current competence and evidence of fifty (50) coronary intervention procedures in the past 12 months or successful completion of an ACGME or AOA-accredited cardiology fellowship, which included training in interventional/invasive cardiology within the past 12 months.
  • For Cardiac Nuclear Scan:
    • Initial: 150 cardiac nuclear scan interpretations in the past 12 months
    • Training should include 4-6 months in an ACGME or AOA-accredited post graduate training program in cardiology that includes training in nuclear cardiology
    • Reappointment: 50 in the last 24 months
  • For ECHOs:
    • Initial: 50 in the last 12 months
    • Training should include completion of accredited Fellowship in cardiology that included completion of Level II training and education and direct experience in advanced echocardiography
    • Reappointment: 50 in the last 24 months
• Additional Details:
  • Providers are on STEMI call 24 hours. On average there is 3-5 STEMI's a week but this number can vary.
  • Inpatient rounding and call are also 24 hours. They will have an APC to help assist with the inpatient rounding during the day. Providers are required to take General cardiology call on Thursday evenings through Friday morning.
  • Mornings are blocked for the cath lab.
  • Providers will see patients in clinic, which are usually new patients that need in, urgent appointments, and some follow ups. These appointments start at 1pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with an average of 8-10 patients a day usually. Patient load can also vary depending on the need.

• Current Active Kentucky Medical License or Active Compact License
• BLS, ACLS, ATLS
• EPIC EMR Experience
