JOB SUMMARY
Provides overall clinical and operational management to an assigned portfolio in collaboration with Assistant Director and/or Director of Advanced Practice Providers along with the Office of Advanced Practice Providers leadership team collectively.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    Master's Degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program and
    Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population or
    Master's Degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Experience
    4 years of experience in advanced practice provider role, with demonstrated increasing responsibility
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (ANP) ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONER Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing Upon Hire and
    Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing Upon Hire or
    (NCCPA) NAT COMM ON CRFT PHY ASST Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Upon Hire and
    Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board, with registered supervisor and delegation to prescribe Upon Hire
    Current applicable American Heart Association Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers Upon Hire

JOB DUTIES

  • Responsible for program wide, multispecialty operations. Provides guidance to others as needed for complex problems/situations. Reviews, analyzes, and resolves medical staff issues.
  • Oversees the development of master scheduling patterns, call schedules and peak plans.
  • Assists in the planning and development of annual budgets, including the preparation of position requests detailing role, need, and cost/revenue analysis. Monitors and manages the budget(s) for the defined area(s) of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the oversight and development of Lead Advanced Practice Providers and Advanced Practice staff. Conducts annual performance evaluation of assigned Lead APPs and related APP staff, in conjunction with the division chief or medical director faculty, and advanced practice leadership.
  • Provides guidance, coaching, and feedback to Lead APPs on effective management techniques. Assists Lead APPs with preparation of documentation for performance evaluation of assigned APP staff. Approves APP staff development plans.
  • Makes employment decisions for the team, seeking direction from advanced practice leadership. Provides talent management planning and approves performance recommendations of Advanced Practice staff and Leads. Coordinates recruitment and interviewing of candidates. Assists with the performance of orientation and competency assessments.
  • Conducts regular portfolio oriented APP meetings to identify barriers to patient care and problem solve on solutions. Reviews meeting results with advanced practice leadership, division chief, medical director, and/or faculty, as appropriate.
  • Identifies quality indicators for the service line(s) to facilitate ongoing quality data collection and continuous patient care quality monitoring. Monitors changes in practice that impact clinical, financial, or operational outcomes.
  • Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives pertaining to the APPs and within the assigned clinical program(s). Provides frequent updates to advanced practice leadership, division chief, medical director, and/or faculty as appropriate.
  • Leads resolution of issues identified through audit trends.
  • Assists in the review of safety events or issues related to APP clinical practice quality and safety for assigned team, and as designated by leadership.
  • Participates in root cause analyses related to the clinical practice of direct reports. Reviews, approves, and communicates response to incident reports.
  • Completes initial follow-up on patient occurrences/incident reports. Briefs medical leadership and advanced practice leadership on events in real time.
  • In the clinical setting, may provide diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients within their scope of practice, licensure, and privileges.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
