Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Bariatric & General Surgery Location: Rapid City, South Dakota Position Type: Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) Experience: 1+ year of surgical or clinical experience preferred ________________________________________ Position Overview Seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a growing Bariatric and General Surgery practice in Rapid City, SD. The APP will work collaboratively with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for patients. This role includes both clinical and surgical responsibilities, offering a well-rounded opportunity in an advanced surgical setting. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities • Provide comprehensive care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. • Assist in the operating room as first assist (approximately 20% or more of total work time). • Conduct preoperative and postoperative evaluations and follow-up visits. • Assess, diagnose, and manage patient health concerns in collaboration with supervising physicians. • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments, and implement care plans. • Participate in rounding, patient consultations, and care coordination across specialties. • Perform minor procedures as permitted within scope of practice. • Document care accurately and timely in compliance with facility and regulatory standards. • Provide patient education on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and ongoing health management. • Respond appropriately to patient emergencies and ensure proper escalation or transfer of care. • Participate in call rotation as required by practice needs. ________________________________________ Qualifications Required (South Dakota): • Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) – South Dakota Board of Nursing or • Physician Assistant (PA) – South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners Preferred: • 1+ year of clinical or surgical experience • Strong knowledge of perioperative and postoperative patient management • Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient education skills ________________________________________ Physical Requirements • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. ________________________________________ Why Join This Opportunity • Collaborate with a dedicated team in a comprehensive bariatric and general surgery program. • Participate in both clinical care and surgical procedures for diverse patient cases. • Enjoy a balanced work-life schedule with supportive colleagues and a strong team culture. • Live in Rapid City, South Dakota, a family-friendly community located near the Black Hills, offering: o Year-round outdoor recreation (hiking, skiing, biking, fishing) o Excellent schools, cultural events, and a welcoming small-town atmosphere
