The Opportunity

  • Seeking Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners interested in Correctional Health
  • Must have at least one year of experience.
  • Must be comfortable with medical management, review of labs, EKGs, as well as minor procedures including but not limited to suturing, incision and drainage, toenail removal, etc.
  • Typical shifts are Monday to Friday and 10 hours in length.
  • Facilities include adult and juvenile correctional centers.
  • As best practice, providers are cross credentialed at all locations: RUHS - Blythe Jail, RUHS - Cois M, Byrd Detention Center, RUHS - Indio Jail, RUHS - Indio Juvenile Hall, RUHS - Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility, RUHS- Murrieta Juvenile Hall, RUHS - Robert Presley Detention Center, and RUHS - YTEC Riverside

The Practice

RUHS - Cois M. Byrd Detention Center - Murrieta, California

  • Part of the Riverside University Health System - Community Health Centers, made up of 12 Health Centers throughout Riverside County.
  • The facility is under the command of a Sheriff's Captain and administered under the direction of the Corrections Division Chief Deputy.
  • Provides counseling, vocational, and education programs.

  • A mid-sized city located in Riverside County offering a small-town atmosphere but still close to the hustle and bustle of major cities such as Los Angeles, San Diego, and Palm Springs.
  • Just inland of several Southern California beaches allowing for easy beach trips year-round.
