This role provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated surgical team in delivering comprehensive urology care within a well-supported and patient-centered physician office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Urology surgeon in diagnosing and managing urologic conditions, ensuring accurate evaluation and treatment.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and clinical staff.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as urinalysis, ultrasound, and laboratory studies.
- Support urologic surgical procedures and office-based interventions, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment options, procedures, and post-care instructions to promote understanding and compliance.
- Manage post-operative and follow-up care to optimize recovery and outcomes.
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff, to ensure seamless patient experiences.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control standards, including OSHA bloodborne pathogen protocols.
- Document clinical findings and procedures accurately and efficiently using electronic medical records.
- Support departmental operations, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
- Practice under the supervision of a licensed physician, maintaining compliance with state and institutional regulations.
Qualifications:
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in Vermont.
- Certification in accordance with ANCC standards.
- Prior experience or exposure to urology or surgical patient care preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform clinical duties requiring manual dexterity, patient handling, and accurate documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, with candidates residing within a 1-hour commute preferred.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality care.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Predominantly sedentary with periods of standing and walking.
- Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs as needed.
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially infectious materials.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Visual and sensory acuity for clinical assessments and documentation.
