Our client, a not-for-profit teaching hospital serving an ethnically diverse community in New York City, is hiring an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join a busy Neurology and Neurointerventional service line. This role includes inpatient consults, joint rounding with attending neurologists, and a rotating inpatient/outpatient schedule shared with another APP. The NP will also support quality improvement efforts and help maintain certifications for the Primary Stroke Center and Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient neurology and neurointerventional consultations, including initial assessments, daily follow-up evaluations, and coordination of care.
  • Round daily with the attending neurologist on hospitalized patients, contributing to care plans, diagnostic and therapeutic decisions.
  • Provide bedside evaluations and participation in stroke alerts, often in urgent or emergent settings.
    Alternate weekly between inpatient responsibilities and outpatient neurology clinic coverage in collaboration with another APP.
  • Assist in the evaluation and triage of stroke alerts, participate in acute stroke management, and ensure appropriate documentation and clinical pathway adherence.
  • Contribute to quality improvement (QI) initiatives, including chart reviews, protocol development, outcome tracking, and performance improvement plans.
  • Support efforts to maintain and enhance Primary Stroke Center and Thrombectomy Certification, including participation in surveys, audits, and data collection/reporting.
  • Educate patients and families on neurological diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, radiology, rehabilitation, case management, and ancillary staff

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in New York.
  • National Board Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Adult NP required.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in neurology, neurocritical care, or hospital-based medicine preferred.
  • Prior experience with stroke management, tele-stroke protocols, or neurointerventional care is preferred but not required
