Position Overview
Urgent Care in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for ongoing locum tenens coverage. This is a high-volume outpatient urgent care setting serving adult and pediatric patients (6 months and up). The provider will function as the sole on-site clinician with full support staff.
Key Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent care patients (adults & pediatrics)

Perform minor procedures including I&Ds, laceration repairs, and ear irrigations

Manage high patient volume efficiently while maintaining excellent bedside manner

Document all encounters in Epic EMR

Deliver care aligned with FastMed’s patient-centered culture
Volume & Support
-
Average patients per day: ~40 (up to 60 depending on site)

Support staff onsite: Medical Assistant, Office Staff, Center Manager

Supervising Physician: Provided offsite for APPs
-
No call, no admissions, no inpatient responsibilities
Requirements
-
Active North Carolina license (required at time of submission)

Board Certified NP or PA (Family, Emergency, Acute Care, or Urgent Care)

Minimum 12 months of urgent care or related experience

BLS required
-
DOT certification required
-
Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred

Comfortable seeing adults and pediatrics independently

Strong communication and interpersonal (“soft”) skills

New graduates not accepted
Credentialing & Onboarding
-
Estimated credentialing timeframe: ~20 days

Clinical interview required
-
Mandatory Epic training and onboarding (held on scheduled Wednesdays)
-
Provider must complete all credentialing prior to being scheduled
