4-Day Weekend Call Coverage | March 2026
WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking a Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner for 4-day weekend call coverage beginning March 2026. This opportunity supports primarily inpatient cardiothoracic and vascular surgery services and offers recurring weekend coverage with rounding and call responsibilities.

Onsite Requirement: Onsite for rounding; pager call thereafter with requirement to remain within 20–30 minutes of the hospital

Credentialing Timeframe: 60+ days
This role supports cardiothoracic and vascular surgery services with a focus on inpatient care. Responsibilities include weekend rounding, CVSICU post-operative patient management and resuscitation, responding to nursing and patient calls, inpatient consults, stat changes in clinical status, and participation in emergent OR cases. The Nurse Practitioner must be EVH-capable and experienced with chest tube placement. Case volume includes approximately 100–120 open heart procedures and 50–70 TAVRs annually. The provider will work alongside cardiac and thoracic/vascular surgeons, fellow APCs, and nursing staff, using EPIC EMR and the Maquet Hemopro 2 vein harvest system. Patient encounters average 10–20 per shift, with occasional ancillary support to vascular surgery services as needed.
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner with cardiothoracic surgery experience.
EVH-capable with experience in open and endoscopic vein harvest; open radial artery harvest preferred but not required.
ACLS and BLS required.
Open to active license candidates and those in the standard licensure process.
Influenza vaccination may be declined with mask compliance per health system policy.
