Job description

General Duties & Responsiblities:
- Assist with pre and post operative patient evaluation and treatment
- OR First assist
- Coronary artery bypass and all valve surgeries
- Aortic reconstruction and aortic arch reconstruction
- Robotic assisted thoracic surgeries
- Endoscopic vein harvest
- Open radial artery harvest
- Minimally invasive valves
- VATS and DaVinci Robot Thoracic Procedures
- Thoracic and fore-gut procedures
- ICU & Step-down management
- Emergent procedures on the floor as required. (Chest tube insertions, arterial line insertions etc.)
- Daily rounds
- Discharge summaries
- Call every 6th night and every 6th weekend
- Pre-and post-op patients, inpatients and outpatients
- Evening, night and weekend surgeries
- Weekend patient rounds
- Walk-in/urgent clinic visits when primary surgeon is not available
- Clinic wound checks as needed
- 5 perm surgeons on staff (3 cardiac, 2 thoracic)
- 4 mid levels (3 PA, 1 NP and 1 in training)
Schedule/Availability Requirements:
M-F 3-4 days calls & a 1:4 weekend call. Hours are variable, but in general. M-F Schedule is mostly 0700-1500, but it is not shift work, some days may go beyond. If the Provider is on call the hours for that day would likely be 10-12+ hours. Weekend call shifts are variable depending on patient census, but generally 6--8+ hours per weekend day. Call days include carrying a pager for 24 hours.
Mandated Job Requirements:
- Board Certified
- WA State License (Highly preferred) will consider IMLC
- Residency Requirements/Fellowship - 3 years of CV/CT surgery experience
- Other Certs: ACLS, BLS, DEA
- Clean Malpractice
