Job description
A Level I Trauma Center in Lansing, Michigan is seeking an experienced Locum Nurse Practitioner to support its Cardiovascular Surgery service. This role focuses on inpatient rounding and management of cardiac and vascular surgery patients. The position does not include operating room responsibilities and is ideal for an APP with strong inpatient cardiovascular experience.
The assignment begins in February and is intended to support coverage following a recent APP resignation.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage post-operative cardiac and vascular cases
• Support CVICU, step-down, and floor patients
• Coordinate discharges and ongoing patient care
• Independently manage patient lists during assigned weekend coverage
• Participate in on-call rotation as first call from home
• Document patient care accurately in the EMR
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
• Active Michigan license or compact license preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Prior cardiovascular surgery or inpatient surgical experience required
• Clean malpractice and license history strongly preferred
• NPDB Self-Query required (within the last 30 days)
Working Hours
• On-call rotation: 1 in 4 weeks (first call from home)
• One weekend shift per month required
