Schedule & Call Expectations 📅
- Weekday coverage with 3–4 call days per week
- 1:4 weekend call rotation
- Typical weekday hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (days may extend)
- Call days may run 10–12+ hours
- Weekend call: typically 6–8+ hours per day
- 24-hour pager call on call days
Clinical Responsibilities 🩺
- Pre- and post-operative patient evaluation & management
- OR First Assist
- Coronary artery bypass grafting & valve surgeries
- Aortic & aortic arch reconstruction
- Robotic-assisted thoracic surgeries (majority of thoracic cases)
- Endoscopic vein harvest & open radial artery harvest
- Minimally invasive valve procedures
- VATS & DaVinci robotic thoracic procedures
- Thoracic & foregut surgeries
- ICU & step-down unit management
- Emergent floor procedures (chest tubes, arterial lines, etc.)
- Daily rounds & discharge summaries
- Evening, night, and weekend surgeries as needed
- Weekend patient rounds
- Urgent clinic visits & wound checks when required
📈 Case Volume:
- 6–8 cardiac cases per week
- 9–12 thoracic cases per week
- ~20 adult patients per day
Team & Support 🤝
- 5 permanent surgeons (3 cardiac, 2 thoracic)
- 4 APPs (PAs/NPs, including one in training)
- Dedicated RN support
- EMR: Epic
Requirements ✅
- Board Certified
- Active Washington license
- Minimum 3 years CV/CT surgery experience
- ACLS, BLS, DEA
