Locum Vascular Surgery NP/PA needed in Syracuse, NY

Seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for full-time inpatient coverage to support leave coverage. This role involves autonomous practice within a surgical service, with physician oversight from the attending surgeon.

Assignment Details

• Coverage Dates: ASAP with a 3-month minimum commitment

• Practice Setting: Inpatient only (no clinic)

• Schedule: Variable; must be flexible for days, nights, evenings, and weekends

• Call: Limited overnight emergency OR call from home (approximately 1–2 days per week, if any)

• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric

• Service Census: Approximately 15–20 patients; rounds on 3–5 patients per day

• EMR: Epic

• Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 1 month

Responsibilities

• Inpatient rounding and coordination of care

• Pre-operative physical exams

• Diagnose and treat illnesses

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests

• Write prescriptions

• Assist in surgery, including intraoperative first assisting

• Suture removal

• Removal of dialysis catheters

Practice Structure

• APP works autonomously

• Supervising surgeon available during assignment

Requirements

• NP or PA with vascular and/or cardiac surgery experience and strong medical management background

• No new graduates

• Full-time availability required

• Active and unrestricted New York state license at time of submission

• NP must have RNFA

• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NCCPA (PA), or ANCC/AANP (NP)

• Self-Query NPDB report (pulled within the same month as submission)
