Locum Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient Surgical Coverage - Syracuse, New York

Overview

Inpatient-only locum opportunity to support surgical services during leave coverage. The role requires full-time availability with flexibility across shifts and strong experience in vascular and/or cardiac surgery, along with medical management.

Practice Highlights

• Inpatient setting only – no clinic responsibilities

• Service census approximately 15–20 patients

• Daily rounding on 3–5 patients

• APP works autonomously with supervising surgeon available

• Adult and geriatric patient population

• EMR: Epic
  
  

Required Duties

• Suture removal

• Diagnose and treat illnesses

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests

• Assist in surgery

• Write prescriptions

• Coordination of care

• Rounding

• Pre-operative physical exams
  
  

Required Procedures

• Intraoperative first assisting

• Removal of dialysis catheters
  
  

Schedule & Coverage

• Dates of Coverage: ASAP – minimum 3 months

• Reason for Coverage: Leave coverage

• Schedule varies – days, nights, evenings, weekends required

• Full-time availability required

• Call: 1–2 days/week if needed (overnight emergency OR call only, taken from home)

• Estimated credentialing timeframe: ~1 month
  
  

Candidate Requirements

• NCCPA or ANCC/AANP certified

• NP must have RNFA certification – REQUIRED

• Active New York State license at time of submission – REQUIRED

• BLS and ACLS – REQUIRED

• No new grads

• Must have vascular and/or cardiac surgery experience and medical management experience

• Self-Query NPDB report required at presentation (pulled within the same month)
