Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM (No weekends or holidays)
Setting: Outpatient clinic within an academic medical center
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced NP or PA to join a high-performing outpatient neurosurgery team. This is a full-time locum opportunity supporting a neuro-spine surgery clinic with a strong academic focus. The APP will work closely with the Vice Chair of Neurosurgery, a high-volume, high-expectation surgeon, and must demonstrate clinical competence in neuro-spine care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage post-op and follow-up visits for neuro-spine patients
- Conduct physical exams, triage patient calls, order imaging and medications
- Perform outpatient procedures such as staple/drain removal and wound care
- Collaborate with a team of 7 APPs, 5 surgeons, 2 physiatrists, MAs, and patient navigators
- Support 20–22 patients/day in person; up to 26/day with telehealth
- No OR or inpatient responsibilities – strictly outpatient clinic
Required Experience & Skills
- 2–3 years in ortho spine surgery, neuro spine surgery, or pain management with spine patients
- Experience in academic medical centers is strongly preferred
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic
- Familiarity with Epic EMR
- Bonus: Experience with trigger point, hip, or knee injections
Licensure & Certifications
- CA license required
- DEA with Schedule II and IIN required
- BLS certification required

- Must hold a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies

Additional Notes
- APPs are not utilized in the OR; surgical time is reserved for residents and fellows
- Patient population is strictly adult neuro-spine cases
- This is a clinic-only role with no inpatient or surgical responsibilities
