Job description
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with recent neurosurgery experience to provide locum tenens coverage for a full-time FMLA leave at its Marshfield hospital location. This is a well-supported role working directly with two neurosurgeons in a high-acuity environment.The locum provider will support neurosurgeons in both clinical and surgical settings. This includes hospital consults, rounding, assisting in the OR, and managing patients across NICU, PICU, ICU, and medical/surgical floors. The role also includes a 1:3 call rotation with a 20-minute response time.
- Surgical first assist for procedures such as:
- Craniotomies, craniectomies
- Spinal fusions, decompressive surgeries
- Aneurysm, tumor, and nerve injury interventions
- Round independently on patients across various units (NICU, PICU, ICU, etc.)
- Conduct outpatient consults and post-op visits
- Provide fracture care and manage patient calls, medication refills, and FMLA paperwork
- Respond to ED and urgent care consults
- Participate in weekday/weekend call (1:3 ratio)
- NP or PA-C license in good standing
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in your specialty
- Active ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- Able to obtain temporary privileges (credentialing takes approx. 60 days)
- Must meet hospital standards for neurosurgery service and surgical assist roles
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Patients per day: 10–12
- Call Type: Beeper
- Call Ratio: 1:3 (Weekdays & Weekends)
- Call Response Time: 20 minutes
- Recent neurosurgery experience is required, including assisting in surgical cases
- Must be comfortable with high-acuity settings and a broad range of patient care (from NICU to adult med/surg)
Job Responsibilities
