Job Details

• Position: Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner – Neurosurgery
• Location: Oakland, California 94602
• Setting: Hospital-based neurosurgery service
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Duration: 26 weeks
• Start Date: 12/21/2026
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,040 - $5,400
• EMR: Epic
• Coverage: Full-time weekly coverage with a mix of inpatient, outpatient, and operating room support
• Orientation: 8 hours

Job Requirements

• Active California Nurse Practitioner license required
• Minimum 1-2 years of neurosurgery experience required
• Inpatient and outpatient experience required
• Level I trauma experience required
• Neuro-trauma experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong communication skills and responsiveness during the privileging process
• First assist experience preferred; RNFA required if first assisting as an NP
• Ability to work independently when covering solo APP days

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced practice support for inpatient neurosurgery coverage
• Support outpatient neurosurgery clinic visits and coordinate care across settings
• Assist in the operating room as needed
• Manage a busy neuro-trauma caseload in collaboration with attendings and nursing staff
• Remove surgical drains and perform other approved bedside procedures
• Document and manage patient care in Epic
• Contribute to smooth daily workflow across the neurosurgery service line
• Deliver high-quality patient care while adapting to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
