Position Overview
One of our Partners is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner for weekend call coverage in a hospital setting with a structured support model.
This assignment offers consistent weekend blocks, high-acuity cardiac exposure, and surgeon backup, making it ideal for providers seeking focused, supplemental locum work.
Provider Pay Ranking: Top ~15% of cardiothoracic surgery APP locum roles (2026 market data)
Assignment Highlights
- 3 weekends per month required
- Schedule: Friday 5 PM – Monday 7 AM (? 62 hours)
- 24-hour call coverage structure
- Surgeon available for backup after consults
- Average callback activity: ~4 hours/day

Job Responsibilities
- Provide cardiothoracic surgery call coverage
- Evaluate consults and post-op patients
- Assist in urgent surgical workflow from cath lab to OR
- Perform rounding and patient management
- Coordinate care from ICU through discharge
- Document all care in Epic
