Position Overview
One of our Partners, a well-established acute care hospital in upstate New York, is seeking an experienced Surgical Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens coverage beginning August 2026. This role offers a balanced mix of OR first assist and inpatient surgical care, flexible scheduling, and optional call for additional income.
Estimated Weekly Pay: $5,000 – $7,500+
Assignment Highlights
- Flexible scheduling: 3x12s, 4x10s, or 5x8s
- Initial coverage:
- 8/6–8/8 (3x12s)
- 8/21–8/28 (flexible schedule options)
- Strong likelihood of extension through end of 2026
- Optional call opportunities:
- Weekend: Fri 5p – Mon 7a
- Weeknight: ~4 shifts/month (5p–7a)
- Case mix: General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics
- OR First Assist + Surgical Floor Coverage
- EMR: Epic
- Travel & lodging prepaid
- Malpractice insurance covered
- HPA Healthcare is a Joint Commission–certified agency
Job Responsibilities
- First assist in surgical procedures across specialties
- Perform suturing, wound closure, and hemostasis
- Manage inpatient surgical floor (rounds, consults, discharges)
- Place orders and coordinate care plans
- Assist with perioperative care
