Wellstar is recruiting for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our established and growing Neurosurgical practice. This position is a mix of clinic and in-patient rounding. Schedule is Monday - Friday, with a 1 in 6 weekend rotation
In this role you will:
- Perform first OR assist duties approximately two days a week.
- Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations and record data in patient's medical record in ambulatory practice. Clinical responsibilities require thorough attention to detail.
- Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
- Write progress notes; prepare patient work-ups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Develop plans of care that minimize complications and successfully troubleshoot problems when they arise. Apply preventative and alternative treatment strategies for possible procedural complications.
- Complete pre-op appointments for all surgical patients, work with supervising physician to ensure all required labs, clearances and testing is satisfactorily complete well before surgery.
Qualifications:
Previous Neurosurgery experience preferred
Must hold an ACNP or AG-ACNP certification or Physician Assistant
OR experience Preferred
ACLS/BLS required
NIHSS and Modified Rankin certified
