Job description
A highly respected Level II Trauma Center in Northern Colorado is seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner to join its Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team as a full-time Nocturnist. This role focuses on delivering high-acuity overnight surgical care in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
The ideal candidate will have prior trauma surgery experience or completion of a surgical fellowship and thrive in an autonomous yet team-oriented setting.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostics, and develop treatment plans
• Manage trauma and emergency general surgery patients in inpatient settings
• Assist trauma surgeons with procedures and ongoing surgical management
• Collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
• Document all care using Epic EMR
• Maintain compliance with medical staff bylaws and credentialing standards
• Uphold high standards of patient safety and quality care
• Participate in mentorship, leadership development, and continuing education initiatives
Qualifications
• National Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANCC or AANPCB) required
• Active and unrestricted Colorado license (or eligible to obtain)
• Eligible for DEA and Medicare/Medicaid provider status
• BLS certification required
• Most recent NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days) required
• No sanctions/exclusions from HHS/OIG or GSA
• Minimum 2 years of trauma surgery experience preferred OR completion of a surgical fellowship
• Clean malpractice and license history highly preferred
• Not accepting new graduates
• Not accepting locums or locum-to-perm candidates
• Visa sponsorship not available
Working Hours
• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM overnight shifts
