An established, high-performing cardiac surgery program in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner with strong cardiothoracic and ICU expertise to join its full-time, patient-centered team.
This role offers a dynamic blend of operating room first assist responsibilities, endoscopic vein harvesting, ICU management, and outpatient clinic care. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Job Responsibilities
• Assist in cardiac surgeries, including endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting
• Manage CVICU, inpatient floor, and clinic patients
• Conduct two full-day clinic sessions weekly, with additional clinic coverage as needed
• Rotate through operating room coverage Monday–Friday
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, physicians, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests
• Develop and implement patient-centered plans of care
• Prescribe medications in compliance with regulatory standards
• Perform bedside procedures appropriate to the cardiothoracic population
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
• Exercise expert clinical judgment while functioning independently under physician supervision
• Maintain continuing education and national certification requirements
Qualifications
• NP Certification (ANCC or AANPCB)
• Minimum 3+ years of cardiac or cardiovascular surgery experience with ICU patient management
o OR demonstrated experience with endoscopic vein harvesting and surgical first assisting
• Unrestricted DEA license
• Full prescriptive authority
• Unrestricted medical staff membership with appropriate privileges
• BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• Eligible for Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment
• No history of HHS/OIG or GSA exclusions
• Active NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days at time of presentation)
Working Hours
• Monday–Friday
• Combination of operating room, inpatient rounding, ICU coverage, and outpatient clinic responsibilities
