PATIENT INFORMATION
  • Patient Demographics: Adult patients
  • Admissions: Included
  • Rounding: Included
  • Phone Consults: As required
  • Case Mix: Thoracic surgery patients including lung and foregut surgery cases

FACILITY INFORMATION
  • Office Equipment Available: Standard surgical clinic and inpatient resources
  • Specialty Backup Available: Thoracic surgery team
  • Support Staff Available: Multidisciplinary surgical and nursing staff

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
  • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
  • Immunizations: Flu vaccination required REQUIRED PROCEDURES
  • First assist in thoracic surgical procedures
  • Robotic thoracic surgery assistance
  • Inpatient rounding, admissions, and discharges
  • Outpatient clinic evaluations and follow-up

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Licenses: Active state licensure required
  • Board: National certification required for PA or NP
  • Experience: Prior thoracic (non-cardiac) surgery experience required
  • Skills: Robotic surgery experience required; comfort with inpatient and outpatient surgical care
  • Other Qualifications: Ability to work across multiple Hartford Healthcare facilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist thoracic surgeons in the operating room as first assist
  • Provide inpatient care including rounding, admissions, and discharges
  • Evaluate and manage patients in the outpatient clinic setting
  • Participate in robotic and minimally invasive thoracic procedures
  • Collaborate with surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Document all patient care accurately and timely
