Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to serve primarily as a trauma hospitalist rounder at a Level I adult trauma center that also cares for pediatric patients. This role is largely autonomous, with 24/7 trauma surgeon support, and involves comprehensive inpatient management rather than a traditional hospitalist model. The position offers up to full-time work with a mix of rounding, admissions, trauma activations, and procedural responsibilities.

Job Details & Responsibilities

Function primarily as a trauma hospitalist rounder
-
Perform daily rounding and manage all patient conditions (hospitalists not used)
-
Respond to ED trauma alerts and activations
-
Handle ER admissions and facilitate patient discharges
-
Provide intermittent ED consults and procedural support
-
Manage ICU and non-ICU patients
-
Average census:
-
10–14 non-ICU patients
-
6 ICU patients
-
2–15 admissions per 24 hours
-

-
Work autonomously with 24-hour trauma surgeon coverage
-
Use EPIC as the EMR
-
Follow established clinical guidelines and non-clinical tracking expectations
-
Patient population ranges from newborns to elderly, primarily adult and adolescent
Required Skills & Qualifications
Certifications & Licensure:
-
Board Certified (ACNP, AGNP, or PA-C)
-
Minnesota license (required at time of name clear)
-
ACLS, ATLS, and PALS
-
DEA registration (verbal confirmation at name clear)
Experience:
-
Minimum 1 year inpatient APP experience
-
Preferred background in trauma, ICU, and/or orthopedics
Procedural Skills (Preferred):
-
Non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
-
Ventilator management
-
Chest tube insertion
-
Central and arterial line placement
-
Suturing minor lacerations
Additional Requirements:

Self-Query NPDB report (pulled within the same month as submission)
