Seeking experienced Locum Nurse Practitioners for Trauma Surgery coverage from May through July, with the opportunity for near full-time work. The provider will function primarily as a trauma hospitalist rounder with additional responsibilities including trauma activations, ED consults, and procedures. This is an autonomous role within a fully staffed trauma surgery team.
Job Responsibilities
• Respond to ED trauma alerts and trauma activations
• Manage ER admissions and facilitate patient discharges
• Serve as attending-level APP for all patient conditions (no hospitalist service)
• Perform trauma-related procedures as clinically indicated
• Document care using EMR
• Follow clinical guidelines and non-clinical tracking requirements
Qualifications
• Active Minnesota License at time of name clear (Required)
• ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications (Required)
• DEA (Verbal confirmation at time of name clear)
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient APP experience (trauma, ICU, or orthopedics preferred)
• NPDB Self-Query report (pulled within same month of submission)
• Local candidates preferred
Working Hours
• 10-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• No call (in-house coverage only)
• Coverage period: May – July
• Up to full-time availability
Skills
• Ventilation management (BiPAP/CPAP, ventilators)
• Chest tube insertion
• Central and arterial line placement
• Suturing minor lacerations
• Ability to work autonomously in a high-acuity trauma environment
• Strong collaboration with trauma surgeons and ED teams
