Job Details

Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage health in pre-, intra-, and post-operative settings for breast surgical oncology patients
- Develop and implement treatment plans and provide health counseling
- Perform history and physical exams, including pelvic exams as indicated
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities within specialty scope
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions when appropriate
- Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
- Conduct debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
- Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Conduct anoscopy as indicated
- Harvest and place skin grafts
- Participate in volume replacement or auto-transfusion techniques as appropriate
- Perform field infiltration of anesthetic solutions
- Remove chest tubes, arterial catheters, central venous catheters, drains, and surgical staples
- Select and apply appropriate wound dressings, including immobilizing and medicated dressings
Additional Information
- Active New York State Nurse Practitioner license required
- Board certifications accepted: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
- Required certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Must have completed NP/PA Core and Surgical Core training
- Must comply with Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) standards
