Job description We are seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment in Florida, starting Nov 21, 2025. This 24-day opportunity includes 24-hour call shifts starting at 7 am, with day rounding up to 8 hours, covering cardiothoracic surgery first assist duties and post-operative care in the CVICU and telemetry units.

  • Schedule: 24-hour call (7 am start), with daytime rounding (up to 8 hours); 1-2 weekends per month; additional dates available through Jan 2026

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide first assist support for cardiothoracic surgery, including vein harvesting
  • Perform daily hospital rounding on CVICU and telemetry patients following cardiac surgery
  • Rotate coverage between CVICU and other units as required
  • Participate in 24-hour call coverage with daytime rounding responsibilities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a Level II trauma center environment
  • Utilize Epic EMR for patient documentation and care coordination

Additional Information
  • Active FL license required
  • Minimum 1 year of first assist experience required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) and Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certifications required
  • Experience in Level II trauma centers or higher is a bonus
