Exciting locum opportunity for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner in Lexington, KY! Join a high-performing surgical team assisting with complex cardiac and thoracic cases. Job Responsibilities
• First assist in CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomy/lung resection procedures.
• Perform vein harvesting and chest tube placements.
• Manage ICU and telemetry patient care.
• Participate in inpatient rounds, procedures, and call coverage.
• Provide weekend coverage (1–2 call days per week, 1 weekend per month).
Qualifications
• Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with an active KY license (or eligibility to obtain).
• ACLS & BLS certifications required.
• 2+ years of cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred.
• Clean malpractice record preferred.
• Must be skilled in first-assisting during cardiac and thoracic procedures.
Working Hours
• 1–2 call days per week
• One weekend per month (7 AM Friday – 7 AM Monday)
• Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Skills
• First-assist in open-heart and thoracic surgeries
• Vein harvesting and chest tube management
• Critical care and post-op management
• EMR experience (Epic)
