Job Opportunity: Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic
Join an innovative, patient-centered cardiac surgery team in the beautiful setting of Colorado Springs, Colorado. This facility is dedicated to providing world-class cardiothoracic care, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner with expertise in cardiac or cardiovascular surgery and ICU patient management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced clinical care for cardiothoracic surgery patients focused on compassionate, patient-first care.
- Assist in cardiac surgeries, including performing endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting as necessary.
- Manage ICU and cardiovascular surgical patient care through rounding and evaluations.
- Participate in full-day clinics and see additional patients as needed.
- Rotate through operating room coverage Monday through Friday.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, physicians, intensivists, and healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement plans of care based on patient outcomes.
- Order medications and write prescriptions in compliance with regulatory policies.
- Perform bedside procedures as appropriate.
- Document all care delivered promptly and accurately.
- Demonstrate expert clinical judgment and function independently under physician supervision.
- Maintain continuing medical education to meet state and national registry requirements.
- Adapt and thrive in a high-stress, dynamic clinical setting.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Nurse Practitioner Certification by ANCC or AANPCB.
- Minimum 3+ years of cardiac or cardiovascular surgery experience with ICU patient management.
- Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license to prescribe medications.
- Full prescriptive authority in accordance with medical staff privileging.
- Unrestricted medical staff membership with appropriate practice privileges.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Eligible to provide reimbursable services and maintain provider status with Medicare and Medicaid.
- No current or prior sanctions or exclusions from HHS/OIG or GSA List of Excluded Individuals and Entities.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Current COVID vaccination.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Unrestricted DEA license.
