Job Opportunity: Nurse Practitioner - Cardiothoracic Surgery
Join a dedicated and innovative Cardiac Surgery Team in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as a Nurse Practitioner. This facility is committed to delivering world-class cardiothoracic care and seeks an experienced, compassionate professional with cardiac or cardiovascular surgery expertise and ICU patient management skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced clinical care for cardiothoracic surgery patients focusing on compassionate, patient-first care.
- Assist in cardiac surgeries, including performing endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting when needed.
- Manage ICU and cardiovascular surgical patient care, including rounding and evaluation of CVICU, floor, and clinic patients.
- Participate in 2 full-day clinics weekly and see additional patients as needed on other days.
- Rotate through operating room coverage Monday through Friday.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, physicians, intensivists, and healthcare professionals in a collegial, multidisciplinary environment.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on patient outcomes.
- Order medications and write prescriptions in compliance with regulatory policies.
- Perform bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population.
- Provide high-quality, timely documentation of all care delivered.
- Demonstrate expert clinical judgment and function independently under physician supervision.
- Maintain continuing medical education to meet state and national registry requirements.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
- Nurse Practitioner Certification by ANCC or AANPCB.
- Minimum 3+ years of cardiac or cardiovascular surgery experience with ICU patient management or experience with endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting.
- Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days active).
- Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license to prescribe medications.
- Full prescriptive authority, in accordance with medical staff privileging.
- Unrestricted medical staff membership with appropriate practice privileges.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Eligible to provide reimbursable services and maintain provider status with Medicare and Medicaid.
- No current or prior sanctions or exclusions from HHS/OIG or the GSA List of Excluded Individuals and Entities.
License and Certification Requirements:
- Current COVID vaccination.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license.
