Sleep Medicine Nurse Practitioner – Olympia, Washington
Location
Olympia, WA – southern end of Puget Sound, vibrant and walkable city with nearly 60,000 residents.
Clinical Role
-
Type: Permanent, full-time
-
Setting: Outpatient clinic (occasional evening or weekend coverage possible)
-
Team: Multidisciplinary – physicians, sleep technologists, behavioral sleep specialists, and other providers
Key Responsibilities
-
Conduct comprehensive sleep evaluations (sleep histories, physical exams, PSG, HSAT, MSLT/MWT interpretation)
-
Diagnose and manage sleep disorders: insomnia, OSA, RLS, narcolepsy, circadian rhythm disorders
-
Prescribe and adjust treatments (CPAP/BiPAP, medications, behavioral therapies)
-
Perform follow-up visits for adherence and symptom management

Educate patients and families on treatment, sleep hygiene, and prevention

Document all assessments and treatment plans in EHR
-
Stay current with AASM/AAN guidelines and new developments in sleep medicine
-
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and sleep center meetings
Qualifications
Required
-
Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing (accredited institution)
-
Unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Washington
-
National board certification (AANP or ANCC)
-
1–2 years NP clinical experience
Preferred
-
Specialized training or certification in Sleep Medicine (AASM courses, BRPT collaboration, or prior sleep clinic experience)
-
Experience interpreting sleep studies and using diagnostic tools
-
Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP devices and adherence platforms (e.g., ResMed AirView)
Skills & Competencies

Strong assessment and diagnostic ability

Knowledge of AASM and AAN guidelines

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Proficiency with EHR systems
