Join Our Team as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – Rheumatology

Are you a dedicated healthcare professional seeking a rewarding opportunity in Rheumatology? We are actively seeking a skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide exceptional patient care within our busy Rheumatology clinic. This full-time locum position offers competitive compensation, a supportive work environment, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.

In this vital role, you will deliver direct patient care to Rheumatology patients, managing clinic visits and responding to patient messages via Epic. Operating within the Providence Portland Medical Center Campus, you will work five days a week, four weeks per month, with hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, including a one-hour lunch break. The position guarantees 8 hours of work per day, with overtime available after 8 hours.

The ideal candidate will possess an active Oregon license and DEA registration, be Board Certified, and have over one year of Rheumatology-specific experience. BLS certification is required. As this is a hospital outpatient department, credentialing with the hospital is necessary—timely submission of documentation is essential to ensure a smooth privileging process and prompt start date.

Required Skills:
  • Active Oregon medical license and DEA registration
  • Board Certified as PA or Nurse Practitioner
  • Over one year of Rheumatology experience
  • BLS certification
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient communication skills
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (Epic preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior hospital outpatient department experience
  • Knowledge of Rheumatology treatment protocols
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary patient management
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current state licensure and certification in Oregon
  • Minimum of one year Rheumatology clinical experience

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work full-time, with availability for 5 days per week
  • Willingness to complete hospital privileging processes
  • Ability to comply with all applicable state, federal, and local laws
  • Travel or licensure reimbursement, when applicable
