Correctional / Advanced Practice Nurse – Psychiatric-Mental Health (Region 6)
Location: Youngstown, OH 44505 – Ohio State Penitentiary (OSP)
Weekly Hours: 24 (Part-time, 16–24 hours/week)
Shift: Flexible start/end times based on operational needs
Duration: Approximately 3 months (may be extended based on need and fit)
Education: Master’s Degree
License Required: Ohio Medical License
Certification: ANCC Board Certification (Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner)
BLS/CPR: Healthcare professional level

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) or clinical nurse specialist licensed in Ohio to provide on-site psychiatric and mental health services. The nurse will work collaboratively with medical services staff and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for the male population at the facility.
No night, weekend, or holiday coverage is required. Services may be provided in person or via videoconferencing as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct psychiatric/mental health assessments and formulate diagnoses
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with formulary
• Order, interpret, and analyze laboratory tests
• Provide direct care to patients, including crisis interventions if required
• Collaborate with medical services staff to ensure integrated care
• Document all clinical encounters and medication management in the health record following policy and protocols
• Participate in treatment planning and treatment team meetings for assigned caseload
• Provide clinical supervision and consultation to registered nurses and other mental health staff on psychotropic medication management and clinical issues
• Receive supervision from collaborating physician on a regular basis
• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
• Maintain clinical competency and licensure requirements
Qualifications
• State of Ohio Medical License
• Board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist
• Experience as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner
• Healthcare professional-level BLS/CPR certification
• DEA certification as required
• Comprehensive resume including education, training, and complete work history
