In this key role, you'll deliver trauma-informed psychiatric care within CCBHC settings, conducting assessments, managing medication plans, and supporting recovery for individuals with serious mental illness, including those involved in the justice system. This role emphasizes evidence-based treatment, collaborative teamwork, and culturally competent care.
Responsibilities as the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP):
- Clinical Care: Provide psychiatric services aligned with CCBHC standards, emphasizing recovery-oriented and client-centered treatment.
- Psychiatric Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive initial and follow-up assessments to monitor and adjust care plans as needed.
- Medication Management: Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, educate clients on treatment effects and side effects, and ensure informed, shared decision-making.
- Crisis Response: Address walk-in and urgent needs, offering rapid clinical support and risk assessment to stabilize clients.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with therapists, nurses, families, and onsite medical teams to deliver integrated behavioral and medical care.
- Education: Master’s degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) required.
- Licensure: Active New York State Nurse Practitioner license with board certification (ANCC) or application in progress.
- Certification: Active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances; MAT waiver preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Experience: 2+ years of clinical psychiatric experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, including risk assessment and crisis intervention.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with CCBHC guidelines, Medicaid/Medicare compliance, and integrated behavioral health practices.
- Skills & Attributes: Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed care with strong interpersonal, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
