Job description
Coordinates School Health Program, manages day-to-day clinical functions of the Program. Provides comprehensive primary care services to patients at school sites and Health Center. Oversees quality assurance, staff development, and other clinical and regulatory adherence functions of the School Health Program
Job Responsibilities
a. Supervising, hiring, evaluating and directing program staff and volunteers including Physician Assistant/Site Supervisor and Certified Medical Assistants;
b. Ensuring appropriate inventory of all supplies, including screening tools, medications and laboratory equipment and supplies;
c. Maintaining accurate up-to-date information on the activities of the Program, and preparing reports for funders, regulators and the Council’s senior staff and Board of Directors;
d. In conjunction with the Fiscal Department, monitoring expenditures under the grant awarded by the New York State Department of Health and other funders;
e. Preparing annual work plan and budget for continuation applications and requests for additional funding;
f. Maintaining positive relationships with school leadership and staff and other providers co-located in schools and/or serving students;
g. Other clinical oversight functions, as required.
2. Provides comprehensive primary care services to patients at school sites and Health Center. Records complete medical history and performs physical examination; orders and performs appropriate diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments; counsels patients; consults with other professional staff of Boriken and other agencies; refers patients to medical subspecialty services, psychosocial services and inpatient care; follows up on referrals; and maintains extensive documentation of all activities through progress notes in the patient’s chart.
3. Maintains ongoing formal preceptor relationship with assigned physician; signs a preceptorship contract.
4. Participates in medical staff and other meetings, assists in performing audits and assumes programmatic responsibilities.
5. Provides clinical support for other programs of the East Harlem Council for Human Services, Inc. and the Boriken Neighborhood Health Center and assist in outreach activities.
6. Provides telephone coverage, based on the Health Center’s on-call schedule.
7. Maintains all licensure requirements. Adheres to the Center’s clinical protocols and other standards of professional conduct. Participates in continuing education to maintain a solid knowledge base through inservice presentations at Boriken of other institutions and through formal continuing education activities.
8. Maintain School Advisory Board activities, as required.
9. Performs other functions necessary for the proper care of patients and functioning of the school and Health Center.
Qualifications
COVID Vaccination Required. DOE fingerprinting required.
