UPMC Child Advocacy Center of Central PA (CAC) provides a coordinated and collaborative response to child abuse and trauma by facilitating hope, healing and resiliency for everyone we serve. The CAC provides efficient, quality care in a safe, child-friendly environment for children suspected of having been abused or neglected.
The UPMC Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is one of the first nationally accredited child advocacy centers in Pennsylvania. Opened in 1994, the CAC has provided services to over 18,000 children suspected of having been physically or sexually abused or neglected or who have witnessed violence in their home or community.
With the interests of the children at the forefront, as a CAC, we:
• Interview children in a non-leading, non-suggestive manner
• Provide medical exams to ensure a child's health and safety
• Connect children and families to mental health services
Job Summary
Work as part of a dedicated and compassionate multidisciplinary team that responds to and provides services for children and their families impacted by child abuse and neglect. Our staff works closely with agencies responsible for conducting child abuse investigations including law enforcement, child protection, and the justice system.
This role has responsibility for the medical evaluation and treatment of children, and adolescents referred for suspected sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, or other forms of child maltreatment. This provider will see patients at our Harrisburg, Lebanon and Carlisle offices.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide direct clinical services to include medical evaluations of suspected child abuse victims (sexual, physical and neglect)
- Provide testimony as needed in criminal and child protection court regarding medical evaluation of children
- Coordinate care with families, investigators and community providers
- Complete electronic health records documenting clinical services in a timely manner
- Provide child abuse education to professionals in the community as well as medical students and residents.
- Provide clinical consultation to partner agencies and multidisciplinary team members regarding medical issues related to child abuse & neglect
- Participate in regular case and medical peer review
- Meet quality of care standards as established by the Medical Director
