Job description

Job description We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to serve as a Pain Management Consultant for long-term care (LTC) and skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). This role focuses on ensuring resident-centered, compliant pain management practices aligned with CMS F697 (Pain Management) F-Tag requirements.

The NP will round on residents receiving pain management interventions, particularly those taking scheduled or PRN pain medications, to ensure treatment aligns with professional standards, each resident’s comprehensive care plan, and their personal goals and preferences.

This is a full-time, non-prescribing position. While routine prescribing is not required, the role may occasionally involve administering clinical pain interventions such as injections; therefore, prior experience with, or comfort performing, pain-related procedures is preferred.

Collaborate with facility staff, attending providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support compliant, individualized pain management plans.
Review medication regimens, documentation, and resident care plans for alignment with regulatory expectations and best practices.
Provide education and consultation to facility staff regarding pain assessment, documentation, and management strategies.
Perform pain-related procedures when appropriate (e.g., joint injections, trigger point injections).
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant assessment notes and communication logs.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to pain management and resident outcomes.

Qualifications

Licensure valid in the state of Colorado.
Strong understanding of pain management principles and geriatric care.
Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar settings strongly preferred.
Knowledge of CMS F697 (Pain Management) regulatory requirements or willingness to train.
Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
