Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) with strong experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery first assist duties, including CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomy/lung resection procedures. This role includes a combination of operating room (OR), telemetry, and ICU responsibilities, along with scheduled call coverage. The ideal candidate will be skilled in surgical procedures, independent inpatient care, and collaboration with surgical teams.
Dates / Schedule

Start Date: As soon as credentialed (credentialing takes approximately 90–110 days)

Schedule: 1–2 call days per week, one weekend per month

Call Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Weekend Call: Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM

FTE: PRN (as needed)
Job Details / Responsibilities

Setting: Inpatient / Operating Room

Primary Duties:
-
First assist in CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracotomy, and lung resection procedures

Perform vein harvesting and chest tube placement
-
Manage ICU and telemetry patients
-
Provide inpatient rounding, procedures, and surgical coverage during weekend call

Support attending surgeons; no dedicated support staff needed

Reason for Coverage: Temporary coverage while hospital recruits an additional full-time provider

EMR System: Epic
Required Skills and Qualifications

Licensure: Active Kentucky NP License (or ability to obtain) – Required

Board Certification: Required
-
Certifications: ACLS and BLS – Required

Experience: Must be proficient in first-assist cardiac and thoracic surgery and capable of performing listed procedures independently

Malpractice History: Clean record preferred

Availability: Must confirm schedule availability at time of name clear
