We are looking for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our In-Patient Transplant Surgery team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute is one of the largest liver transplant centers in the nation, with more than 100 transplants a year. We transplant patients faster than any other center in the region.

Job Duties

  • Provide and coordinate clinical practice for patients pre- and post-kidney, liver, pancreas, and intestinal transplant, Hepatobiliary surgery for patients followed by the Transplant surgery service

  • The APP is responsible for conducting patient assessments, performing evaluations, prescribing, obtaining H&Ps, order and review diagnostic testing, formulate plans, write progress notes, and provide education or patients and their families.

  • In collaboration with attending physician and multi-disciplinary team, round daily on patients to assess, diagnose, plan treatment, set priorities and realistic outcomes, and evaluate effectiveness of treatments

  • Post-operative stabilization and management with discharge planning and collaborative care

  • Discharge planning in coordination with our case manager and social worker

This position is inpatient only, working (2) 12-hour shifts per 4-week period.
