Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Nurse Practitioner Surgery-Ortopedics to provide locum coverage at a facility in OR. The NP works collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons to manage inpatient and emergency department patients, provide perioperative care, and perform a broad range of orthopedic procedures. The role requires strong clinical independence, comfort with call coverage, and consistent, high-quality documentation.
Dates / Schedule

Start Date: ASAP

Work Week: Sunday–Saturday

Call Coverage: Weekday, weekend, holiday, night, and 24-hour call rotation

Overtime: Paid after 40 hours
-
Training: 4 hours unpaid EPIC training (option to test out in 2 hours)

Credentialing: Temporary privileges available
Job Details & Responsibilities
-
Collaborate with attending physicians to obtain patient histories, develop and implement plans of care, and participate in daily rounds

Document evaluations, progress notes, diagnoses, discharge summaries, and care plans in the electronic medical record

Order and perform diagnostic studies, including EMG, EKG, compartment pressure measurements, X-rays, CT, MRI, and bone scans

Perform orthopedic and minor surgical procedures, including:

Digital blocks, regional anesthesia, wound closure, debridement, incision and drainage

Tendon repair, needle biopsy, percutaneous fracture pinning, K-wire and hardware removal

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions such as joint and bursa aspirations, fracture and dislocation reductions, injections, and cast/splint applications

Assist in surgery as first assist, including tissue closure and application of orthopedic appliances

Serve as primary orthopedic call provider for ED and inpatient units, participating in rotating call coverage

Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, respond to coding/documentation queries, and support quality and safety initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications

Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (Required)

Active Oregon NP License (Required)

Full-time availability (Required)

Eligible for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional privileges

Proficiency with electronic health records (EPIC preferred)

Ability to work independently and manage high-acuity or emergent situations
