Position: Locum NP/PA – Orthopedic Surgery
Location: Coos Bay, Oregon
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: 4x10 or 5x8-hour shifts with call expectation of 1–2 nights per week and every third weekend
Overtime: After 40 hours per week

We are seeking a Board-Certified NP/PA to join a collaborative Orthopedic Surgery team in Coos Bay, Oregon. This locum assignment provides the opportunity to work autonomously under physician supervision while participating in a wide range of inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care. Lodging will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with attending orthopedic surgeons to evaluate and treat patients.

  • Document patient history, assessments, diagnoses, and care plans in the EMR.

  • Participate in daily rounds and multidisciplinary team discussions.

  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including EMG, x-rays, CT, MRI, and bone scans.

  • Perform orthopedic procedures including:

    • Digital blocks and regional anesthesia

    • Minor outpatient surgeries: tendon repair, wound closure, debridement, incision & drainage, k-wire/hardware removal

    • Joint and bursa aspirations, closed reductions, injections, brace/cast/splint applications

  • Assist in surgeries as first assist or as delegated by the surgeon.

  • Serve as primary orthopedic contact for patients in the emergency department and inpatient units.

  • Participate in call coverage, including 1–2 nights per week and every third weekend, as well as holidays as scheduled.

  • Dictate discharge summaries, histories, and physicals for hospitalized patients

Job Responsibilities

Board Certified NP/PA – REQUIRED
Active OR license – REQUIRED
Full-time availability – REQUIRED
NPDB self-query – REQUIRED at submission
CAQH login and password – REQUIRED at offer
Ability to work independently and in high-pressure/emergent situations
Proficiency with EMR documentation

Qualifications

Additional Information:
4 hours unpaid EPIC training required (option to test out for 2 hours)
Credentialing timeframe: temporary coverage can be provided
Lodging arranged for locum providers
