Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) for locum coverage in Medical Oncology at a free-standing cancer center. The role involves both outpatient and inpatient oncology care, with a focus on hematology and oncology patients. Providers will support an established multidisciplinary team managing complex cancer cases, including bone marrow transplant patients.
Dates & Schedule
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: End of September
- Call Schedule:
- Tuesday: 4:30 PM – 8:00 AM
- Friday 4:30 PM – Monday 8:00 AM (includes weekend rounding)
- Call Rotation: Every 5–6 weeks (based on staffing)
- Credentialing Timeframe: ~60 days
Job Details & Responsibilities
- Provide care in both outpatient and inpatient oncology settings
- Manage approximately:
- 15 outpatient visits per day
- 20 inpatient/rounding patients during call
- Treat adult and geriatric populations
- Case mix: ~65% benign hematology, 35% malignant oncology
- Perform duties including:
- Managing bone marrow transplant patients
- Ordering tests and imaging
- Prescribing medications
- Coordinating with blood bank services
- Chemotherapy administration handled by nurse oncologists
- Collaborate with a team of 8 physicians and 4 APPs
- Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation
- Participate in weekend inpatient rounding during call shifts
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Board Certification: Hematology & Oncology (required)
- Licensure: Active South Carolina license (or willingness to obtain)
- Certifications: BLS and DEA required
- Experience: Strong background in oncology and hematology care, including inpatient and outpatient settings
- Documentation: NPDB self-query report (within 30 days of submission)
