Job Details

- Schedule: Monday-Friday (4 shifts a week), 08:00-18:00
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage patient conditions within the neuro oncology inpatient setting
- Perform history and physical examinations, including pelvic exams when indicated
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities relevant to specialty
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions
- Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy, demonstrating competence with at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months
- Perform lumbar punctures, with or without chemotherapy, demonstrating either recent training or at least 5 procedures in the past 12 months
- Provide care in the intensive care setting per unit policies
- Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
- Manage superficial wounds, including debridement and minor procedures
- Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Complete Death Certificate Protocols as needed
- Remove central venous catheters
- Assess eligibility for and perform intravenous thrombolytic therapy for stroke (in collaboration with the stroke team and per hospital policy)
- Perform EEG interpretation
Additional Information
- Must hold active New York NP license and be certified in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner
- Required certifications: ACLS and BCLS
- Experience with chemotherapy/biotherapy prescribing and lumbar punctures is essential
- Familiarity with inpatient neurology and oncology cases preferred
